Live Literacy Tour

Live Literacy Tour presents storytelling, workshops and INSETs in schools, museums or festivals.

Working with storytellers, authors and publishers, the performances and workshops promotes speaking, listening, literacy, comprehension, creative writing and builds confidence. It also encourages children to work together and engages adults in reading and storytelling.

The Literacy Tour also works with children's book publishers to present a unique initiative inspired by Vayu Naidu's doctoral research with multicultural pupils. Storytelling enables pupils who are from diverse cultural backgrounds to read, and speak English, and promotes literacy.

Recent research indicates children would rather have parents spend time with them playing board games and reading to them, rather than computer games as a family activity.

The Live Literacy Tour enriches parents to read and exchange their expertise of storytelling through the vibrant books that we have on offer.

Our Storytellers are specifically trained to work with teachers, in the classroom with pupils, as well as in INSETS for training.

School Storytelling Sessions

Great Berry Primary School and Creative Partnerships:

The Peacock's Tail by Vayu Naidu published by TULIKA India, at National Storytelling Week 2011. With Shane Shambhu as Choreographer and Vayu Naidu as Storyteller.

Chesterton Primary School for Holocaust Memorial Day:

This school in Wandsworth is multicultural and multilingual in the local authority where Vayu Naidu Storytelling Theatre Company is based. The participatory storytelling contextualised the memorial of all who were killed in the holocaust, and the pupils were encouraged to remember the human bond of friendship above regimes and chauvinisms. Vayu's stories included Partition of India.
